Q: will putting bleach and water solution on my dogs ringworm kill it?
My dog has a ringworm on her paw and she is limping a little at times.
She not in pain.I can press down on it and she will not pull away or cry.
Maybe the little not like on top of her paw fells funny to her when she walks on it.

A: If you are sure it is ringworm? Alcohol will kill it if applied several times a day. Bleach/water does work on hoof rot caused by fungus in livestock, so I assume it would work on ringworm too. I know rubbing alcohol will work.

Ringworm doesn’t usually cause limping, so I would question your diagnosis though. Are you sure it isn’t an infection that would require antibiotics?

Q: How can i prevent bringing ringworm to my dogs?
i know ive already asked this i dont mean to be annoying but i REALLY need to know. I was told by the managers at Petsmart that i will be working with the small animals (i just got the job) and he said the Guinea Pigs sometimes come in with ringworm and i will sometimes have to care for them. How can i keep from bringing it to my 4 dogs and my cat?
they dont sell them like that. They treat them and do not sell them until they are completely healed!

A: Wash your hands thoroughly before leaving the store. Change your clothes before petting and playing with your dogs. Personally, I would be more concerned about catching it instead of passing it on to my dogs. Why is PetsMart selling guinea pigs with ringworm to people with children and people who may have compromised immune systems? You need to talk to the store about protecting yourself from this potentially zoonotic disease. Ask about their OSHA program regarding this problem.. If you catch it while working there, you can file a Workman’s Compensation claim for your own treatment.

Q: Has anyone ever heard of dogs having ringworm just on the end of their tail?
the young dog has been treated and has no other hair loss, but on the very tip of her tail, and we never see her chasing or biting on her tail but we keep getting exposed to ringworm…please help!

A: Ringworm is a fungus that is very conagious. Hopefully you are using an antifungal medicine on the area. Best of luck to you and your dog.

Q: A rescue dog has ringworm and if he sits in my car (while being transported to foster) can my dogs catch it?
This dog is being moved from a shelter and has ringworm (and being treated) can just by having him in my car put my dogs and myself at risk of getting ringworm?

A: Yes there is a chance if there is skin to skin contact . If you can keep him apart from the other dogs and wash the seat with hot soapy water after transportation you should be ok.

Q: dogs has been treated for ringworm can i still get it?
My friend has a dog that has ringworm. She has taken her to the vet, has been treated but can i still get it after 3 weeks?

A: Ringworm is very contagious and I wouldn’t trust anything else until the dog’s vet says she’s in the clear.

Q: What can I safely use on dogs to combat ringworm?
The vet said it wasn’t ringworm, but it is round patches, they both have them. The vet has given antibiotics and prednisone. One is on an allergy diet. I bathe them with a shampoo that contains triclosan, sulfur, and salicylic acid. It’s just getting worse. Should I add tea tree to the shampoo? Can I try tinactin?
I haven’t caught it, neither has the cat. Dr. also said it wasn’t mange, but he hasn’t said what it is either.
Jess, yes, I am looking for home remedies, since my multiple visits to the vet haven’t stopped the problem. Where do you think I got the antibiotics and prednisone? But I don’t recall him actually testing, just eyeballing and treating.
I am asking about Tinactin because I think it looks like ringworm, even though the vet said it wasn’t, and because the other treatments were not stopping the spread.

A: find another vet, one that is a dermatologist. ringworm is a fungus, and is sometimes accompanied by other things like yest, staph. sometimes vets miss these things believe it or not.
don’t add anything to your treatment until you know exactly what it is. what did the vet say it was?????
did you have allergy tesing done? it’s very expensive to have it done. that’s why i ask. what are the findings if so? you have a lot more questions to ask your vet. and the main one is, What Is This? and why isn’t it geting better?

Q: How can I get rid of my dogs ringworm without going to the vet?

A: Yep, I agree with the above answer that you can try OTC anti-fungals like athlete’s foot cream.

Be aware that it can take a long time for ringworm to go away. And it won’t always go away without professional attention especially if it’s a large area.

So just looping back….are you sure it’s ringworm? I’ve seen many a person assume it’s ringworm when it’s something else like demodex…

Q: Ringworm on dogs. What are some at home things I can do to get rid of them?
I have been to the vet. Just checking to see if anyone knows at home tricks.
by saying “them” I mean the spots that are the ringworm…

A: Ringworm is a fungal infection of the skin, you need an anti-fungicide. If the vet thought there were any home treatments that would be suitable he would’ve told you. Get it treated before you end up with it yourself, it’s highly contagious and very itchy!

Q: can Itraconazole for dogs ringworm be found in stores?
i was wondering if this medicine can be found stores because i cant afford the vet at this time!

A: The fastest way to get it is to go to your veterinarian

Q: how to get rid of ringworm on dogs?
I think my dog might have ring worm what can I get to get rid of it, without having to go to the vet?

A: Take your dog to the vet. There are medications to get rid of the nasty little peskies on your pooch. You do not want to wait around on this, you will wind up with it as well and to treat it in humans we use an anit-fungal like Tinactin or Blue Star Ointment. You have to get the meds to treat it in the dog though… the treatment for people verses pets is way different.

Q: What type of medicine can treat ringworm for dogs and cats?
Over the counter medicine

A: my dr and my vet have my fam use selsun blue shampoo from the drugstore. cant use head and shoulders only selsun blu.. something in it gets completely rid of ringworm. it is the same thing in the prescription they will give you. put it on the infected area, let it sit for 5 minutes then use a loofah or a scrubby sponge and wash vigorously, dont obviously hurt the skin but do scrub. then rinse off with water. do this for about 5 days and it should be gone. this has worked on my son my horses and my dogs. good luck hope it helps

Q: How can I cure my dogs from ringworm?

A: You can buy any over the counter fungicide used to treat jock itch, athlete’s foot, vaginal yeast, etc. Or you can simply use rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball a few times a day. You don’t have to buy the expensive stuff from the vet. Monostat or any athlete’s foot cream is the exact same product. And as I said, plain rubbing alcohol will kill a fungus if you use it several times a day.

Q: Is it possible for dogs to develop ringworm?

A: Yes.
Any fungicide will kill it. Our vet suggests using Lortimin the athlete’s foot cream first.

Q: What is the treatment for ringworm ( fungal ) in Dogs ?

A: Any fungicide will work. Our vet suggests lotrimin, but any athlete’s foot product or vaginal yeast product will work fine. It takes several weeks to go away.

Q: Is it possible for dogs to give humans ringworm?
I am just wondering. My dog is and outside dog and really fluffy and has an undercoat over his overcoat but he is not missing any hair and it isnt falling out in clumps and there are no patches. But I have a small round red rash on my hand. It itches. i wash my hands frequently and always use antibactieral everything! I am clean and meticulous so…could he have something or is it something from somewhere else

A: Yes, humans can get ringworm from dogs and vice versa. But have you even checked your dog for ringworm? It’s possible that you can get it on your own, too. It’s not actually a worm; it’s a fungus. If you do in fact have ringworm, just put some anti-fungal cream on it, like Lotramin. It’s not hard to clear up for humans (because we won’t lick the cream off — lol). If you don’t take care of it though it will likely spread.
